Am I eligible to vote?
You can vote in the 2026 Brampton municipal election if, on Voting Day, you:
- are a Canadian citizen
- are at least 18 years old
- live in Brampton, or own or rent property in Brampton, or are the spouse of someone who does
- are not otherwise prohibited from voting
You cannot vote if you are serving a sentence in a penal or correctional institution, if you are voting on behalf of a corporation, if you are acting as an executor or trustee (except as a proxy under the Municipal Elections Act), or if you have been convicted of a corrupt practice in an election held within the last four years.
Where do I vote?
On Voting Day, October 26, you can vote at any voting location within your ward. During advance voting, you can vote at any advance location in the city.

What do I bring?
One piece of ID showing your name and address. Photo ID is not required.
Government issued
- Ontario driver’s licence
- Ontario Photo Card
- Ontario motor vehicle permit (vehicle portion)
- A document issued or certified by an Ontario court
- Any other document from the Government of Canada, Ontario, or an Ontario municipality or agency
- A document from an Ontario Band Council under the Indian Act
Tax and benefit
- Income tax assessment notice
- Child tax benefit statement
- T4E
- T4A (OAS)
- T4A (P)
- CPP statement of contributions
- Ontario Works or ODSP direct deposit statement
- WSIB T5007
- A pay stub, T4, or pay receipt from an employer
Financial
- Credit card or bank statement
- RRSP, RRIF, RHOSP or T5 statement
- Insurance policy or statement
- A loan or other agreement with a financial institution
- A cancelled personalized cheque
Property
- Property tax assessment
- Mortgage statement
- Lease or rental agreement for property in Ontario
- A document showing residence at a long-term care home, issued by the home’s administrator
Utility or service
- A bill for hydro, water, gas, telephone, or cable TV, or a bill from a public utilities commission
Education
- A document showing campus residence issued by the post-secondary institution
- A transcript or report card from a post-secondary school
Health and disability
- Ontario photo health card, if it shows your name and qualifying address
- Hospital card or record
- CNIB card, or a card from another registered charity serving people with disabilities
Accessible voting
The City reviews every voting location for accessible parking, barrier-free routes, and accessible entrances.

- 4x magnifying sheets for voters with low vision
- Help marking your ballot from an election worker, if you ask
To vote privately and independently: accessible voting equipment is available at every advance voting location and at one designated location in each ward on Voting Day. It offers a touch screen, audio, a Braille keypad, and sip/puff or rocker paddle and foot switch options. You can also bring your own device to help mark your ballot.
If you can’t get to a voting location: proxy voting, the City’s Home Voting Service, and voting in designated retirement homes and institutions are all available.
Language support: key voting information is translated into 11 languages. Election workers can interpret voting instructions, and you can bring your own interpreter.

When is Election Day and what are the voting hours?
Election Day is Monday, October 26, 2026. Voting stations are open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Advance voting days will also be held on October 9, 10, 11, 16, and 17 for residents who prefer to vote early.
Who is eligible to vote in Brampton Wards 3 and 4?
To vote in the Brampton municipal election for Wards 3 and 4, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years of age on Election Day, and a resident, owner, or tenant of property in Brampton (or the spouse of an owner or tenant).
What identification do I need to bring to the voting station?
